PKRS Digital Education Programme

Bits & Bytes — STEM Catalysts

Building the next generation of Sarawakian innovators — one line of code at a time.

Be the Catalyst. Shape Your Future Today with AI and Code.

Bits & Bytes is PKRS’ flagship digital literacy programme for primary and secondary students across Sarawak. Designed to give every young learner the tools to become an active creator of technology — not just a consumer — this work delivers structured, hands-on computer science education aligned with internationally recognised standards.

The Raspberry Pi 2025 Deployment, led by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak and Sarawak Skills, introduced hands-on STEM education to 6,000 students across 160+ rural schools in 18 districts.

PKRS was invited as a lead partner delivering coding and AI competitions across all 18 districts. As a Code.org International Partner, we ensured all competitions were aligned with the International CSTA Standards, with every participating student receiving a certificate of achievement.

To support the long-term success of this initiative, the partnership came full circle through Swinburne University Sarawak. Prior to the statewide rollout, Swinburne invited PKRS to deliver Code.org platform training as part of their Raspberry Pi educator sessions. This collaboration provided teachers with a roadmap for success centered on fun, engaging, and accessible lessons that are fully functional on mobile devices. While the platform’s built-in pass/fail metrics ensure a consistent standard of quality, the focus remains on building the local capacity for students and teachers to sustain high-quality digital learning well beyond 2025.
