Malaysia Impact Spotlight 2025

This report was prepared for our international audience under the Fondation Rolf Schnyder name, reflecting our Swiss philanthropic identity. All programs described are delivered on the ground in Malaysia by Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder (PKRS).

FOUNDATIONAL STEWARDSHIP.

Across rural schools, indigenous learning centres, and preschools in Malaysia, more than 7,500 children participated in structured computer science education in 2025 — through programs delivered by Fondation Rolf Schnyder. Guided by Rolf Schnyder’s legacy of principled innovation, integrity, and enduring institutions, FRS advances digital literacy by building lasting partnerships with ministries, universities, and national education systems.

As a Swiss philanthropic international organisation, FRS maintains full operational autonomy — independently stewarding program delivery and long-term integration, while honouring a shared global vision with peer organisations including The Dariu Foundation to expand equitable access to digital opportunity.

THE FRS STANDARD · CODE.ORG PARTNER.

Utilizing a discovery-based pedagogy, FRS develops computational thinking to transform students from passive technology consumers into proactive digital creators.

• Mastery-Based Progression: Delivers 100% CSTA-mapped curriculum coverage in foundational logic and AI literacy, through Code.org’s internationally verified framework — with built-in concept checks ensuring every student demonstrates understanding before advancing.

• Holistic Digital Citizenship: Fosters agency, empathy, resilience, online safety, and cyberbullying awareness.

• Personalised Validation: Students earn internationally verified certificates.

INTEGRATED CURRICULUM.

• KIDS Bits & Bytes: Partnering with Sarawak’s Ministry (KPWK), FRS integrated Malaysia’s first preschool AI curriculum across 80 SeDidik centres.

• Train-the-Trainer Framework: FRS develops and equips local educators to deliver the curriculum, creating a structured multiplier that sustains impact across classrooms and communities.

• Mastery Sequence: over 700 students annually navigate a CSTA-mapped path: Course A → Course B → AI for Oceans.

• Gated Advancement: Progress is gated by built-in concept checks, ensuring 100% mastery before advancing to subsequent stages.

• Global Validation: Graduates earn internationally verified certificates, validating foundational logic and AI literacy standards.

NATIONAL POLICY & INTEGRATION.

• Federal: In 2025, reflecting sustained institutional confidence, FRS was invited by the Ministry of Education Malaysia to contribute to the national AI-Powered Classroom framework, supporting the structured integration of AI within 21st-century learning environments.

• State: Universiti Teknologi Sarawak with Sarawak’s Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development engaged FRS as a strategic partner for STEM Catalysts 2025, extending structured digital learning to 6,000+ students in 160 rural and underserved schools, supporting Sarawak’s 2030 digital development goals.

STRATEGIC UNIVERSITY & GLOBAL REACH.

• Academic: Recognising FRS’s regional thought leadership, Swinburne University’s Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Ida Fatimawati bt Adi Badiozaman, invited Executive Director Scott J. Wong to author Chapter 9: ‘Responsible and Equitable Use of AI in Educational Settings’ in The Practitioner’s Guide to Technology-Enhanced Learning.

• Global: FRS hosted Martina Pometlova, Head of Global Partnerships at Code.org International, facilitating direct peer-to-peer exchange and serving as the bridge between Malaysia’s forward-thinking digital initiatives and leading global pedagogical partners.

By strengthening national systems and fostering agency, FRS carries forward a legacy built on one conviction: that every child reached receives education grounded in integrity and built to endure.

Every program the Foundation delivers is systematically benchmarked against internationally recognised Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) standards. FRS is honoured to share this global vision alongside peer organisations including The Dariu Foundation — each independently advancing equitable digital access with distinct capabilities and complementary reach.

At the heart of every meaningful effort stands a teacher. FRS honours the educators and locally led facilitators whose daily dedication — classroom by classroom, child by child — translates global standards into enduring learning, ensuring expanded opportunity for every child in their care.
