Kids: Bits & Bytes™

Kids: Bits & Bytes is Fondation Rolf Schnyder’s preschool computer science curriculum, with early AI awareness. It sits inside SeDidik, Sarawak’s public preschool system.

Fondation Rolf Schnyder is the certified Code.org Professional Learning Partner. In Malaysia, Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder leads that professional learning. SeDidik teachers lead their own classrooms.

How it sits in public education

A tripartite arrangement with the Sarawak ministry (KPWK), Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, and PKRS put the curriculum into SeDidik. PKRS adapts the materials for Malaysian classrooms and trains the teachers already in those centres.

One organisation carries the international standard. The other makes it absorbable — language, pace, and setting — so it stays inside public education after a workshop ends. Sarawak was the first state in Malaysia to integrate this work into the preschool curriculum. TVS reported 107 SeDidik centres in 2026.

What children learn

The curriculum uses Code.org materials, naturalised for the local classroom, alongside Fondation Rolf Schnyder’s own framework. Children learn to think computationally, solve problems, and meet technology with judgement — think first, then use technology as a tool.

Progression is mastery-based. Teachers are trained to deliver it themselves.
