Digital Technologies Seniors Programme

The Digital Technologies Seniors Programme is a Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder initiative. It helps older adults in Sarawak use everyday technology with judgement — banking, government services, family contact, and the avoidance of scams.

The programme began in November 2021. It is delivered with Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and with support from the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Sarawak.

How it works

Swinburne students serve as Cyber Ambassadors. They are trained to coach seniors. Seniors, in turn, offer the students something the classroom does not: lived experience. The exchange is the model.

Sessions sit inside senior centres and community organisations already in place. After the first workshops, a support group remains so participants can bring questions — including possible scams — to the team.

What participants learn

Safe use of online banking. How to recognise fraud. How to reach government services. How to speak with family by video. How to find reliable health information. The aim is independence, not a certificate.
