Bits & Bytes — STEM Catalysts
STEM Catalysts is a programme of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Sarawak. It is delivered with Sarawak Skills and University of Technology Sarawak. It takes hands-on STEM to rural schools across the state.
Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder’s part is digital literacy and early AI for those students. In 2026 the minister named the society as principal strategic partner for coding and AI education. Fondation Rolf Schnyder is the certified Code.org Professional Learning Partner. PKRS delivers that partnership at the Catalysts stops.
The 2025 tour ran from April to July across 18 districts. Press reports put the reach at more than 160 rural schools and 6,000 students. PKRS ran coding and early AI activities at those stops, so a carnival day could continue as classroom work.
What students meet
Foundational coding. Computational thinking. A first look at how AI works, and how to question it. The materials follow the same Code.org and CSTA line used in the Foundation’s other computer science work.
