Rooted in Sarawak. Guided by global standards. Partnering to create lasting impact in Malaysian communities.
“That makes us the first state in the world to implement this programme in pre-school.”
— Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Sarawak
Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder (PKRS) works with schools, universities, government agencies, and aligned organisations to deliver structured programmes in computer science education, child safety, digital inclusion, and community welfare. We seek partners who share our commitment to evidence-based practice, measurable outcomes, and the long-term wellbeing of Malaysian children and communities.

Our Programmes in Malaysia
Where our mission begins — and continues.
KIDS: Bits & Bytes
Malaysia’s first structured computer science and AI curriculum for preschool-age children, developed by Scott J. Wong and Andrea Wong with PKRS. The programme equips young learners with foundational coding and computational thinking skills through an interactive, age-appropriate curriculum — giving every child, regardless of background, access to the skills that define the digital economy.
PKRS is an International Partner of Code.org — a platform serving 107 million students across 180+ countries. The curriculum is aligned with the International CSTA Standards, the globally recognised benchmark for quality CS education. Children advance through verified competency levels — not activity completion alone — ensuring real, measurable progress.
The programme is currently delivered in government preschools across Sarawak, Malaysia, with over 7,500 children reached to date.

Digital Technologies Seniors Programme (DTSP)
The Digital Technologies Seniors Programme (DTSP) provides free digital literacy training for senior citizens in Sarawak. Developed by Scott J. Wong and Andrea Wong with PKRS, in collaboration with Chai Ching Yi and Sueh Ing of Swinburne University Sarawak, the DTSP equips older Malaysians with practical digital skills: device use, online safety, communication tools, and confidence in navigating the digital environment.
Malaysia’s senior population faces a pronounced risk of digital exclusion. The DTSP addresses this directly — not through passive instruction, but through structured, peer-supported learning that respects the experience and dignity of its participants. Swinburne University Sarawak is acknowledged as a valued collaborator in programme design and delivery.
Partner with us to expand digital access for Malaysian seniors.
ChildSafe Malaysia
ChildSafe Malaysia is a teacher and community training programme that raises awareness of child sexual abuse and equips educators with the knowledge and tools to protect the children in their care. The programme is delivered in preschools and kindergartens across Sarawak, and aligns with priorities set by Malaysia’s Ministry of Education for early childhood safeguarding.
The need is urgent. Research from Childlight Global Child Safety Institute estimates that 1 in 10 children in East Asia and the Pacific have experienced sexual abuse. Globally, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys are affected. ChildSafe Malaysia trains educators to recognise risk, respond appropriately, and foster safer environments — before harm occurs.

Nourish Malaysia — Community Nutrition & Education Support
PKRS partnered with Nourish Malaysia, a Malaysian NGO whose mission is “more than just feeding” — breaking the cycle of poverty through sustained education support. Together, PKRS and Nourish Malaysia support SK Damansara Damai 2, a government primary school serving the PPR housing community of Damansara Damai, Kuala Lumpur.
The school enrols 1,041 students, including 98 pre-schoolers, 897 regular students, and 46 children with special needs. PKRS and Nourish Malaysia provide monthly dry food supplies, education materials, and sensory and developmental tools. Five low-income families receive monthly raw food support, linked to their children’s continued school attendance and academic progress. Special attention is given to children living with autism, blindness, cerebral palsy, and hydrocephaly.
During the Covid-19 pandemic (May 2021), this support was extended to the broader PPR housing community, providing groceries and essential items to residents facing acute hardship.

🏷 Philippines — Sun for All Children
Partner: Sun for All Children (SFAC), Paco, Manila | Since: 2012
SFAC works deep in the slums of Manila, identifying and supporting street children who might otherwise be lost to poverty, crime, or exploitation. Founded by Romain von Arx (a former Swiss professional footballer) and his wife Malou, a certified social worker who has guided children and families since 1990.
PKRS/FRS began supporting SFAC in 2012, enabling 60 children from squatter areas to attend school and providing a full-time social worker to keep children motivated and away from the streets.

- 2015: 115 children (42 original + 73 new, Grade 1 to College)
- 2016: 138 children in programme
- Graduated beneficiaries have found employment and are supporting their families
- Structure: 1 volunteer Mother per 20 children for close monitoring
- Romain von Arx passed away in March 2017. His legacy continues through Malou’s tireless work.
🏷 Philippines — Tuloy Foundation (Aquaponics Project)
Partner: Tuloy Foundation, Manila (Father Rocky) | Project: Aquaponics self-sustainability programme
Founded in 1993 by Father Rocky, the Tuloy Foundation provides full rehabilitation to marginalised street children — growing from 12 street kids to a facility supporting 1,000 children with residential care, education, and vocational training.
FRS funded a 2,500 sq. metre aquaponics project to support Tuloy’s long-term sustainability. The project provides residents with fresh vegetables and fish, with surplus sold for income. It is maintained by the students themselves and has become a model for space-efficient sustainable agriculture.
Vocational programmes include: automotive servicing, culinary arts, computer hardware, baking, dressmaking, welding, building wiring, and refrigeration.
🏷 Mongolia — Bayasgalant Children’s Home
Partner: Bayasgalant (bayasgalant.ch)
FRS was the main sponsor for the construction of a permanent home to replace the children’s gers (yourts). Completed in summer 2013, FRS also furnished the full house and provided heating. The number of children in residence doubled to 150 following completion.
In 2014, FRS sponsored the construction of a dedicated kindergarten on-site.
🏷 Myanmar — The Lotus Clinic (Hlaingthayar Township, Yangon)
Partner: Medical Action Myanmar (MAM) + Sanni Foundation (Switzerland) | Structure: 50/50 joint venture — FRS and Sanni Foundation
The Lotus Clinic opened in August 2014 in Hlaingthayar Township, Yangon — a densely populated area of approximately 700,000 residents. Free healthcare is provided 7 days a week.

FRS started this project in Thanlyn, a poor and densely populated district south-east of Yangon. FRS provided full operational funding — building, salaries for all medical staff, and general and medical supplies.
The clinic operates 5 days a week with 60–80 patients per day, approximately 12,000 patient visits per year. An ambulance service and new waiting area have been built through community involvement.
Services: Free medical consultations, HIV/AIDS care, TB treatment, family planning, lab testing, food support for needy patients.
🏷 Myanmar — Hlaingthayar Children’s Home
Partner: Medical Action Myanmar (MAM) | Opened: March 2016
Established to provide a safe, familial environment for HIV-positive orphaned children who had been abandoned or lacked consistent caregivers — ensuring continuity of life-saving antiretroviral treatment.
The home uses solar power, includes outdoor play space, and is staffed by an HIV-positive live-in carer and a caretaker/security guard. All children attend school and receive psychosocial support, medical care, food, informal education, and life skills training.
Design principle: Only the most in-need children with no other care option are supported — ensuring quality of care and avoiding institutionalisation.
🏷 Burundi — Micro Financing for Children’s Education
Programme: Family-level micro-financing + direct education support
FRS supported children’s education in Burundi through micro-financing for families, sponsorship of teacher and nurse salaries, and a goat sponsorship programme to support household livelihoods.
🏷 China — Nanyang Special Care Centre (Henan Province)
Partner: New Hope Foundation | Project: Ground floor fit-out — 2 baby rooms + dining room
FRS provided funding for the fit-out of one of New Hope Foundation’s five centres in Henan Province. These centres provide humane and loving medical and hospice care for infants and young children with congenital defects who are unlikely to survive without intervention.
New Hope operates a foster home near Beijing — working with hospitals in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Singapore to provide complex medical interventions at cost or pro bono. Of 1,000+ babies taken in over seven years, approximately 600 survived, received full care, and were adopted — over 90% to families in the US, Canada, or Western Europe.
🏷 Mexico — Colegio Meyalli (Girls’ Education)
Partner: Colegio Meyalli, Mexico | Project: Classroom extension — 4 classrooms using sustainable Panelmod construction (Dutch technology, 50-year guarantee)
Colegio Meyalli is committed to providing quality elementary, middle, and higher education for girls. Programmes include parent education, computing skills, sports, artistic education, culinary training, psychology, and typing.
